The Premier League season usually ends in early-to-mid May but will run an extra week to ensure all games are played. Not yet. Sports minister Nigel Huddleston confirmed a target date of 1st October is in place for a partial reopening of major sporting events.
There are matches on Sunday that could change it again. We are still a work in progress, and consistency is our next challenge.
And Lampard admitted the fans played their part. They brought their voices and support against a good team.
The supporters certainly made enough noise and created the sort of atmosphere that suggested a lot more, hardly surprising since it had been nearly nine months since Chelsea had played in front of their own fans.
B ut there was near silence when Bamford opened the scoring four minutes into his return to Stamford Bridge.
The former Chelsea striker, who struggled to break into the side when Frank Lampard was a player here, felt his chances were limited at the time and has thrived at Leeds, with seven goals in 10 games before this one.
His eighth owed everything to a superb through-ball from Kalvin Phillips, who was running the game for Leeds from central midfield.
The young England midfielder took the ball as a swift counter-attack developed and sent a curling pass into the path of the onrushing Bamford, who took one touch to take it past Edouard Mendy before clipping it into the net from wide on the left.
Leeds were not helped when centre-back Robin Koch limped off in the eighth minute to be replaced by debutant Diego Llorente, playing his first game of the season.
But the French striker, making his first Premier League start of the season, was not to be denied for long. The crowd roared their appreciation, although there was anxiety from fans and Lampard and his staff when Ziyech had to leave the field moments later with what looked to be a hamstring injury.
Kai Havertz, who looks to be feeling his way back gradually from a bout of coronavirus, had a quiet game but went close to putting Chelsea ahead in early in the second half with a glancing header over the bar.
L eeds hit back with a cleverly worked corner kick, which allowed Raphinha to volley towards goal from outside the penalty area. His effort was blocked, and he put the rebound over the bar.
Instead, it was Chelsea who scored next to take the lead. Mason Mount tried to force the ball home from close range and his effort was deflected over and, when the England midfielder took the resulting corner, Zouma rose in the centre of the penalty area to power home his header.
Still Chelsea pushed for the cushion of a third goal. Werner broke again, but again Meslier did well to get down and block his shot and, from the resultant corner, Giroud headed over the bar.
Werner finally turned creator in stoppage time when he ran down the right and drilled in a low cross that Pulisic converted from close range.
C onfirmation of how things look. Both Liverpool and Spurs play tomorrow. C helsea wrap it up on the counter, and Pulisic is the scorer of a fabulous goal.
L eeds in possession and pushing forward in search of an equaliser, but they are yet to get anywhere near Mendy's goal. A poor first touch from Dallas gives Chelsea a way in, but Abraham's shot misses the far corner of Meslier's net.
It's all a bit nervy for Chelsea as Leeds attack down the other end, with Poveda looking lively in the box, but James defends superbly to win Chelsea a goal kick.
K lich and Rodrigo smell an opening in the box and the latter manages to find Bamford in the box, but the former Chelsea man gets a bit muddled between controlling and having a first-time shot at goal, and his confusion ends with the ball heading out for a goal kick.
